Taj Marquis Reed (b. Trenton, New Jersey, based in Brooklyn, NY) is an image and text artist. He holds a BA in Art, Literature, and Human Behavior summa cum laude from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and is a Photo MFA candidate at the University of Hartford.

Taj has exhibited at Harper’s Gallery and Hercules Art Studio Program in New York City, Agony Books in Richmond, Virginia, St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Boyden Gallery, Villa Heike in Berlin, and digitally through the Maryland State Arts Council. In addition, his images have been featured by Booooooom, Pomegranate Press, Pearl Press, and other digital and print publications.

Taj’s practice is dedicated to the liberatory potential of visual and textual language. His work focuses on sites of Black sociality through history, cultural traditions, memory, ontology, and the vernacular.
